222 - Veggie Vegan

Last night I got all fancied up after work and went on a "fancy" date with my boyfriend (feels a little weird typing that after being single for such a long time)

We aren't going to see each other over the Christmas period as i'll be heading back to The North to spend some quality time with my family and some of my besties!

So we decided to go out for a nice meal, rather than our usual chain-restaurant dining. He asked me to pick the restaurant, he's happy to eat anywhere, and I've been lusting over pictures of food at 222 for a long time! So off we went to 222.

We decided to get dressed up, its always nice to be a little fancy. Not going to lie, I can't help but love a boy in a shirt and trousers. I wore one of my fave little black dresses and felt fabulous!

Now the bit you've all been waiting for....the FOOD!!

We shared a starter:

"Warm organic wholemeal pitta bread with a selection of dips: hummus, pimento and avocado."

The Pimento was delicious! Something i don't think I've had before!

For mains he had "Bens Special" with Rice, seitan and with Medium spice, his only mention was that he would have liked it spicier, but that's all personal preference. He did say it was delicious.

"In-house special stir-fry with either organic brown basmati rice or organic wheat-free noodles. Prepared with seasonal vegetables and your choice of seitan or marinated tofu (additional option of oyster mushroom with the wheat-free noodles). Prepared mild, medium or spicy to your taste."

I was torn, there were so many amazing sounding dishes on the menu, and of course I'd been perusing it all day!

I went for the Seitan Stroganoff....and it was lush! Crispy bits of seitan in a delicious creamy sauce!

"This deliciously creamy dish with seitan strips, caramelised onions, fresh herbs and pepper cubes in cashew cream is served with organic brown basmati rice."

Now, I've been dieting for the best part of this year, and the last few months have been 60% on plan and 40% way off plan, but its ok, I've still maintained my stone loss.
I've gotten really good at saying no when the host asks if I want to look at the desert menu, but its harder to say no when everything is vegan!!
Plus i'd already seen the words, Chocolate Gateau!!!

IT WAS HEAVENLY!!
Super rich, if you don't like rich chocolate cake, we cannot be friends!! The vanilla Ice-Cream was lush too!

The service was a good pace, we had enough time after being seated to look at the menu and decide while catching up. Ordered drinks and our food, and it came before either of us had noticed we'd been waiting long, the presentation was lovely, especially the desert with the little message written in sauce.

I will 100% be going back to the venue again to try some of the other amazing looking items on the menu.

Thanks for reading
Keep it Positive

Welcome!!

Hello Friend! Welcome to my blog! So glad you dropped in! My name is Vanessa (Ness for short) and i'm currently in the process of setting up a YouTube channel, i have an active Instagram and a no so active Twitter. Promise i'll get round to that! I've been on a journey this past year to lose some weight, get healthy and overhaul my life. I am following "Slimming World" as a "structure". I don't want to call it a diet, because its not, its a lifestyle change.....and boy didn't i need one!! Back in the day I pretty much only ate food on the beige scale....even the veg I ate was on that scale!  I slowly started to introduce different foods into my diet. And aside from a little more veg it was mostly bad foods. A year and 9 months ago I was challenged by a friend to try a vegan month....i accepted as I thought it would be great to get me to eat better. A month passed and another and another and here I am still vegan. The first year...

Goal - An Open Letter

So last night you asked me for a goal...and i couldn't see one. See the point. Or why I was worthy of even trying. This positive, bubbly, outgoing, always on the go girl sometimes, just sees black.... This morning I tried 7 different things on to wear. Some of them had gotten too big previously, And this morning I'd accepted that they would probably fit me now....but they didn't. They were still too big!! Maybe I haven't undone all my hard work. Maybe some of this is just water weight from the shite I've been eating. Maybe...just maybe I can shift this quickly and get back on track. But I have to start don't I?! So my goal.... 22lbs down by the 17th of May. That's a sensible 2lbs loss a week. I know I can do that! It's a week by week thing. One day off doesn't mean a whole week of self sabotage. Then. That's it. The end. The end of the struggle. Then it's just a life of eating well 70% of the time and 30% feeling f...

After Christmas....

Its that weird time of the year that you feel like you shouldn't be at work, and there's almost no point to starting anything until the beginning of the new year.... And that used to be me....don't bother starting the diet until the New Year or don't bother doing that until you've 100% planned it out over the weekend. But not this time! There are 23 days until my birthday party and i plan on being on plan for at least 22 of them (NYE is pizza and pajama party) I went to weigh in yesterday and i only managed to put a pound on....pretty good considering! I would love to get another 10lbs off for my birthday party especially seen as i have ordered the size smaller in the playsuit i want, that's a 12/14 rather than a 14/16!! The rest of this week is going to be on plan, even with all the nights out I've got coming up, Friday, Saturday, i'm looking at you!! Not as SP as i'd like. But over the weekend i'm going to get planning some tasty SP m...
